StopUpdates10 Version: 1.10.19 (Updated August 14 2018)

How to finally stop Windows 10 updates and upgrades?

I like updates! I like new free updates!
But it’s really frustrating to me, that Windows 10 breaks my work and reboots my PC to install their update/upgrades.
Unfortunately, there is no way to fully stop updating using the Windows interface.

Why StopUpdates10 if I can easily stop Windows update service?
This way does not work on Windows 10.
Windows 10 uses a WAAS Medic service and some scheduled tasks to recover the Windows update service.

This why I created a small utility StopUpdates10 that gets back control over updates to me.
StopUpdates10 blocks executable files, related to Windows upgrade from starting. It is enough to stop Windows updating process.

    windows update is partially blocked

    y no bloquea las actualizaciones.

  • Mateito

  • ozvic

This! If possible can you stop big blue screen advising the current version of Windows 10 is stopping support, but allow other updates if necessary. For whatever reason, my current computer can’t run 1709 (like Windows on some old Macbook Pros).

  • Dmitrys

    This is End-of-Service screen.
It is blocked by StopUpdates10 1.0.6.
Let me know if you still have this issue with version 10.0.6.

At last,,, a simple bit of software that will stop those never ending updates and that screen as Ozvic described warning you that their support of Windows 1607 will end in April. When in fact, they’ve stated it’ll be Jan 2023. I’ve had that 1709 Creators update try to load soooo many times and fail. Even wushohide doesn’t do the trick. It’s become just like a virus where I can’t use my laptop for hours and hours. So,,, well done and a big hip hip hooray to you Dmitrys.
Of course,,, if I see updates like security patches, Defender updates, then I’ll open the gates,,, for a while. I’m really glad I found your software and look forward to a bit of peace from Micro-get on everyone’s nerves-soft.

but what if I want to run Windows Update manually time to time ?

  • Dmitrys

You can allow updates when it is convenient for you and get your Windows updated.
Updates are not useless. But the problem is in the force updating by Microsoft.

  • oldoc

hello. does stopupdates10 disables windows update service ? it is still running on my machines (tried on 2 PC). i tried the “check for update button” and update occured ?

  • Kavindu Lokuge

    Thank you very much :)

  • Dmitrys

    Yes. It disables the service.
You can control it via settings.
If you want to allow Windows Store Apps updates – allow the Windows updates service.

  • Jack Edwards

I hope this works. Everything else I’ve tried worked for a few weeks but then Microsoft found a way to sneak in and screw up my computer.

How long will this work if I install it and just leave it?

  • Dmitrys

    It will work forever.

  • Jack Edwards

    Thank you!
