The issue mostly appears for users who have <strong>System Guard Secure Launch<\/strong> setting enabled (introduced with Windows 10 version 1809).<\/p>\n<p>Usually victims experience a <strong>blank screen at boot<\/strong>.<\/p><div class=\"wpInsert wpInsertInPostMy wpInsertMiddle\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_90570\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/greatis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/blank_screen_on_boot.png\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-90570\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-90570\" src=\"http:\/\/greatis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/blank_screen_on_boot.png\" alt=\"Windows blank screen on boot\" width=\"640\" height=\"589\" srcset=\"https:\/\/greatis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/blank_screen_on_boot.png 640w, https:\/\/greatis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/blank_screen_on_boot-300x276.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-90570\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Windows blank screen on boot<\/p><\/div>\n<p>It was found that the issue happens because the System Guard Secure Launch setting is set to <strong>enabled regardless of whether the underlying hardware support for the feature is present<\/strong>. It is difficult to predict if the system will be hit with the bug, because the appearance of the problem depends on set and order of signed components in the boot path.<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft states that the fix is currently under development.<\/p>\n<p>It is recommended to switch the <strong>ConfigureSystemGuardLaunch<\/strong> Group Policy setting to <strong>Not Configured<\/strong> or <strong>Disabled<\/strong>. Changing this setting will not have any significant impact on your system.
