How to enable Share Host Folders in Windows 11 Sandbox?

!Sandbox in Windows 11 is a special system component that allows you to run applications in an isolated environment, which provides protection when running any questionable programs. Sandbox is less demanding on resources compared to virtual machines and does not store its states for the next launch.

To be able to use files from your host in Sandbox, you will need to create a Share Host Folder.

This option is only available starting with Windows 11 build 27686.1000

To enable Share Host Folders in Windows 11 Sandbox, just follow the next steps:

  1. At first run the Windows Sandbox app and click on the 3 dots icon at the upper right.
  2. In the appeared menu click on Share folder.
  3. After that you have to navigate to and select the host folder you want to share, and click on Select Folder.
  4. The shared host folder(or several folders, if you need more than one) will now appear on the desktop of Windows Sandbox until you close Windows Sandbox.
