windows explorer cannot run on this system

Question

i get a black screen @ signon after entering password.
nothing ever opens.

I can ctrl shift esc and create a run dialog from task manager, however when I try to launch explorer, I receive this error message.

"That app cann't run on your PC."

then something about finding one that can.

anyways, im running windows 8.1 updated all the way, one a Toshiba satellite family laptop in the 2gb ram//processor range, duo core. 500gb HDD

I am A+certified in hardware and software repair, but this one is new to me, and its really pissing me off.

Try to open explorer with full path:
C:\Windows\explorer.exe

If it does not help, open your browser.
Download Microsoft Procmon.
Start the Procmon logging.
Run explorer.
Check results.

Also, post your explorer.exe to Virustotal.
Send me the Virustotal link.
