Windows Hello Login Problems Triggered by April 2025 Update

Microsoft has acknowledged that the April 2025 cumulative update (KB5055523) may cause Windows Hello to malfunction on certain devices, particularly those with System Guard Secure Launch or DRTM security features enabled before the update.

Affected users, especially those on Windows 11 24H2 or Windows Server 2025, may encounter errors like "Something happened and your PIN isn't available" or issues with facial recognition setup after performing a system reset while keeping their files.

As a temporary fix, Microsoft suggests re-registering Windows Hello by following the "Set my PIN" prompt or manually setting up facial recognition through the account sign-in options.

The company is currently working on a permanent solution.

Additionally, the same update previously caused problems with Credential Guard and the Kerberos PKINIT protocol, which has since been addressed. Microsoft also introduced update blocks for systems with certain drivers or software that trigger BSOD errors, including SenseShield's sprotect.sys, Dirac audio tools, and Easy Anti-Cheat.
