Microsoft has lifted its update block that previously prevented some Easy Anti-Cheat users from installing the Windows 11 2024 Update due to a bug causing BSOD crashes. The issue, affecting games like Apex Legends and ELDEN RING, was resolved in June with an emergency patch (KB5063060).
As of July 24, 2025, the compatibility hold has been removed, allowing eligible devices to upgrade. Microsoft notes that while outdated Easy Anti-Cheat versions may still trigger warnings, they won’t cause system crashes unless launched in-game. This follows earlier update blocks for Intel Alder Lake+ systems, which were resolved in March. Recent months have also seen similar holds lifted for AutoCAD and Safe Exam Browser users.
