Microsoft Begins Testing Windows 11 Version 25H2 in Release Preview

Microsoft has moved Windows 11 version 25H2 to the Release Preview Channel, the final stage before its full rollout later this year. Insiders can access build 26200.5074 in “seeker” mode by manually checking for updates in Windows settings. Unlike version 24H2, which was a complete OS upgrade, 25H2 arrives as an enablement package, sharing the same servicing branch and receiving updates in parallel.

The update not only introduces new features but also removes outdated components such as PowerShell 2.0 and the WMI command-line tool. IT administrators will also gain more control, with options to uninstall additional preloaded apps on Enterprise and Education systems.

Beyond consumer testers, Microsoft has released version 25H2 to businesses through Windows Update for Business and WSUS, with availability on the Azure Marketplace beginning today. The company also confirmed that ISO images for clean installations will be provided next week on the official Windows Insider site.
