What is BootRescue

BootRescue can backup and recover Master Boot Record (MBR) and Volume Boot Record (VBR) in Windows 2000/XP/2003/VISTA/Seven/2008/Windows8 32 or 64 bit.
A master boot record (MBR) is a type of a boot sector used for:

Holding a partition table which describes the partitions of a storage device.
Bootstrapping an operating system.

A volume boot record (VBR), frequently called a partition boot sector, is a type of boot sector, stored on a particular partition on a hard disk drive or other storage device, that contains the necessary computer code to start the boot process.
