How to Disable Downloaded Files from being Blocked in Windows?

!In Windows 10, the Attachment Manager has been implemented to help protect your PC from unsafe attachments that you might receive via email and from unsafe files that you might download from the internet.

If the Attachment Manager identifies an attachment as unsafe, it will either prevent you from opening the file or warn you before you open it.

The Attachment Manager categorizes files that you receive or download based on the file type and file name extension.

In this article, we will explain how to disable the blocking of downloaded files in Windows.

To disable Downloaded Files from being blocked, just follow the next steps:

  1. First, you can use the Group Policy Editor, for which you should use the key combination Win + R and run gpedit.msc.

In the policy editor, go to the tree branch User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Attachment Manager.

Then in the panel on the right, double-click to edit the parameter Do not preserve zone information in file attachments.

In the window that opens, set the value to Not Configured or Disabled to disable blocking of downloaded files, or Enabled to enable it.

  2. Secondly, you can use the registry editor, for which you should use the key combination Win + R and run regedit.

In the registry editor that opens, find the branches HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Attachments and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Attachments.

In each of them, add the DWORD parameter SaveZoneInformation with the value 1 to enable blocking of downloaded files, or delete it if you want to disable it.
