Two ways to hide folders in Windows 11

!If you have files that you don't want to show to others and prefer to keep them in a hidden place when working with Windows 11, then the folder hiding mechanism will be very useful for you.

We will tell you how to use it in our article.

There are two ways to hide folders in Windows 11:

  1. The first method is standard for Windows, by disabling the display of folders with the Hidden attribute.

First, use the Win + R key combination and run control folders.

In the File explorer options window that appears, on the View tab, check Don't show hidden files, folders or drives.

After that, all that remains is to make the desired folder hidden, for which it is enough to right-click on the folder you want to hide and select Properties in the context menu.

In the folder properties, on the General tab, check the Hidden attribute, and also click the Advanced… button and remove the additional attribute Allow files in this folder to have contents indexed in addition to file properties.

  2. The second, unusual method will allow you to disguise your data as a regular picture, which you can choose yourself.

First, you need to archive your data using zip or rar (for example myarc.zip).

Then place the archive and the picture (for example mypic.jpg) in the same folder, for example in c:\mypath.

Next, using the key combination Win + R, run cmd and execute cd c:\mypath.

After that, immediately execute the command (for our example) COPY /B mypic.jpg + myarc.zip newimage.jpg.

The resulting file newimage.jpg will be displayed as a picture, including when opened by standard means. However, if you open it with an archiver, or change its extension to zip, you will gain access to your data again.
