Apple Releases Emergency Security Updates to Address a Zero-day Used to Target Macs, Apple Watches

Apple has released emergency security updates to address a zero-day vulnerability to target Macs and Apple Watch devices.

The vulnerability is tracked as CVE-2022-22675 and is an out-of-bounds write issue in the AppleAVD that allows apps to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges.

Apple didn't release any data on the attacks, but they did name a list of impacted devices which includes Apple Watch Series 3 or later, Macs running macOS Big Sur, Apple TV 4K, and Apple TV HD. Addressing the issue this way company hopes for the security updates to get installed on as many devices as possible before threat actors start incorporating it in their other attacks.
