Ransomware Attack on Blue Yonder Causes Supply Chain Disruptions

A ransomware attack on supply chain management firm Blue Yonder has caused widespread service outages, affecting major grocery store chains in the UK and other clients. Blue Yonder, a Panasonic subsidiary serving over 3,000 customers including Morrisons, Tesco, Sainsbury, and Starbucks, specializes in AI-powered supply chain solutions for inventory, demand forecasting, and logistics.

The attack, which occurred on November 21, disrupted the company’s managed services environment, impacting its cloud-hosted systems used by clients for supply chain operations. While Blue Yonder has detected no suspicious activity in its public cloud, it continues recovery efforts with the assistance of cybersecurity experts.

Clients like Morrisons and Sainsbury have implemented contingency measures, though disruptions persist. As of Sunday, no specific timeline for full restoration was provided. Starbucks has also reportedly resorted to manual payroll processes due to the outage.

No ransomware group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, and Blue Yonder is urging clients to stay updated via its customer support page as recovery efforts continue.
