CD Projekt Red got hit with HelloKitty ransomware, source code stolen

CD Projekt Red has disclosed that they were a target of a cyberattack of a ransomware attack and got their devices encrypted and data stolen. The ransomware responsible for the attack is named 'HelloKitty'. It has been active since November 2020 and has targeted several large companies including Brazilian power company CEMIG. Once launched, ransomware will run taskkill.exe to terminate processes associated with security software, email servers, database servers, backup software, and accounting software, such as QuickBooks.
