E-commerce Platform Mercari Has Suffered A Data Breach Due To Codecov Supply-Chain Attack

Mercari, a publicly traded Japanese company and an online marketplace, has suffered a major data breach due to exposure from the Codecov supply-chain attack. The popular code coverage tool Codecov has become a victim of the recent supply-chain attack, resulting in attackers getting their hand on huge number of users' credentials, allowing hackers to breach hundreds of customer networks. According to Mercari's investigation, the compromised records include 17,085 records related to the transfer of sales proceeds to customer accounts that occurred between August 5, 2014, and January 20, 2014.
