False Malware Alert Disrupts Docker Desktop on macOS

Docker Desktop is failing to start on macOS due to false malware alerts stemming from files signed with an incorrect code-signing certificate. The issue, first reported on January 7, 2025, triggers a "Malware Blocked" message on macOS, though Docker has confirmed these warnings are inaccurate and pose no threat.

To address the issue, users are advised to upgrade to Docker Desktop version 4.37.2, which contains a permanent fix. Patches are also available for affected versions 4.32 through 4.36, while versions 4.28 and earlier remain unaffected.

Admins can manually resolve the problem by stopping services, replacing binaries, and restarting Docker Desktop. IT administrators managing multiple systems can utilize a provided script for broader fixes.

Although Docker has released updates and detailed resolution guides, partial service disruptions persist as the effectiveness of these fixes continues to be evaluated.
