Google Limits The Number Of Apps That Can Access The App List On User's Devices

Certain apps, including well-known ones, have been historically collecting data about other apps on user's devices. An academic study posted in March 2020 has discovered 4,214 Google Play apps stealthily compiled a list of all other installed apps, allowing the developers and advertisers to build detailed profiles of users.

Previously Google has introduced permission called "QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES" for apps that need access to the list of other installed apps.

Google's next step is to restrict the misuse of the permission by limiting it only for the apps that use it for the device search.
