Google Play Will Require Additional Checks For App Submissions

Google Play is taking action against malware by requiring new developer accounts to provide a valid D-U-N-S number before submitting apps. This measure aims to improve security and trust on the platform and prevent malware submissions from new accounts. Previously, malicious apps were often submitted without dangerous code, only to introduce it later through updates. To address this issue, starting August 31st, 2023, all developers creating new Play Console accounts will need to provide a valid D-U-N-S number, making it more challenging for publishers of malicious apps to re-register.
