Linux Bans University Of Minnesota For Malicious Code Submission

Linux kernel project maintainers have imposed a ban on the University of Minnesota (UMN) after the researchers submitted malicious code commits that deliberately introduced security vulnerabilities in the official Linux codebase, as a part of their research activities. Those commits were used by researchers in their paper "Open Source Insecurity: Stealthily Introducing Vulnerabilities via Hypocrite Commits." Linux has also reverted all code commits from the UMN email address. UMN researchers have replied to Linux, asking them to refrain "from making wild accusations that are bordering on slander."
