Microsoft has acknowledged a problem affecting Windows 10 users since November 12, where packaged applications like Microsoft Teams cannot be updated or uninstalled. This issue stems from the WinAppSDK 1.6.2 package, which was delivered alongside certain app installations. Impacted devices, particularly those running Windows 10 22H2, encounter errors like “Something happened on our end” in the Microsoft Store or HRESULT error messages in PowerShell during app management tasks.
The issue is unrelated to Windows security or monthly updates, so uninstalling cumulative updates will not resolve it. To prevent further disruptions, Microsoft has pulled the problematic WinAppSDK 1.6.2 and is preparing a fixed version (WinAppSDK 1.6.3) to release soon. Affected users can apply temporary workarounds using PowerShell or Command Prompt with administrator privileges.
This follows a series of recent technical setbacks for Microsoft, including issues caused by other updates and fixes related to blue screens, app crashes, and sound system glitches. Microsoft is actively addressing these concerns to minimize the impact on users.
