Several SpyLoan Malware Apps Reach Over 12 Millions Of Combined Downloads On Google Play
Over 12 million downloads of SpyLoan, a set of deceptive loan apps, have occurred on Google Play this year. The actual number is likely higher due to their availability on third-party stores and suspicious websites. These Android threats masquerade as financial services, promising quick funds but actually steal personal data, including account details, device information, call logs, installed apps, calendar events, Wi-Fi details, and image metadata. The risk extends to contact lists, location data, and text messages. ESET, a cybersecurity company and member of the App Defense Alliance, has identified 18 SpyLoan apps since the beginning of the year.
