Vulnerable Dell Driver DBUtil Puts Millions Of Users At Risk

A driver that's been installed on Dell devices during the BIOS update process for the last 12 years contains five vulnerabilities, that could lead to elevating system privileges. A collection of five flaws is tracked as CVE-2021-21551 and according to the security researchers it can be exploited “to escalate privileges from a non-administrator user to kernel mode privileges.” This type of vulnerability is not considered critical because an attacker exploiting it needs to have compromised the computer beforehand.
