Microsoft is introducing new Windows 11 Insider builds that strengthen security for batch file and CMD script execution in enterprise environments. Administrators can now enable a protected processing mode through a registry value that prevents batch files from being modified while they run. This enhancement ensures that signature validation occurs only once rather than per statement, improving both security and performance when code integrity is enabled. Policy authors can also activate this mode using the LockBatchFilesWhenInUse application manifest control.
The update also expands the Shared audio feature introduced last October, which allows audio sharing between multiple Bluetooth devices. Individual volume sliders now enable separate level adjustments for each connected listener and device rather than applying uniform changes. A new taskbar indicator appears during active sharing sessions, providing visual confirmation and quick access to sharing settings.
Additional Bluetooth LE Audio accessories have joined the compatible device lineup, including Samsung Galaxy Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro, Sony WF-1000XM6, and Xbox Wireless Headset. These capabilities are rolling out to Windows Insiders in Beta and Dev channels through Preview Builds 26220.7934 and 26300.7939. The changes reflect Microsoft's ongoing focus on script security and multi-device audio experiences for enterprise and consumer users alike.
