Android spyware strains connected to state-sponsored hacking group
According to cybersecurity firm Lookout, two malware strains dubbed Hornbill and SunBird, have been linked to Confucius hacking group, which is believed to be a state-sponsored group with Pro-India ties. Confucius is known for the targeted attacks on government entities in Southeast Asia, Pakistani military, and Indian officials. According to security researchers, Hornbill can be described as a "discreet surveillance tool" designed to selectively steal data, whereas SunBird contains Remote Access Trojan (RAT) functionality.
