Google Chrome 97 has brought up a feature that was previously rejected by Mozilla and Apple due to security reasons - a Microsoft-based keyboard API.
The change has been proposed to Microsoft due to the inability of some web applications to access a browser API for determining how the physical keys on a keyboard have been mapped to specific keyboard layouts.
